Launch of Government’s Consumer Website for Responsible Homeowners Seeking Relief

The MakingHomeAffordable.gov website provides information about the federal government's loan modification and refinancing program. The site provides self assessment tools to help homeowners determine if they are eligible for the program and calculators to estimate possible mortgage payment reductions. Additional resources include frequently asked questions, a checklist of information you need before you talk to your mortgage servicer and help finding a free HUD-approved housing counselor.

The federal government also has information about the Making Home Affordable and other financial stability plan initiatives on the FinancialStability.gov website.
